Sunday XI
Captain :
Craig Perrin
Very gifted opening batsman/wicketkeeper whos talent is almost as great as his modesty.Currently gracing Loughborough Universitys student bar where he keeps everyone one intersted by telling stories of his glorious cover drives and forward defences. Thankfully he is still able to play most weekends due to his dads credit card.
Vice Captain :
Liam Holyman
Liam joined the first team at the beginning of the 2010 season. He is well rounded player whos leg spin bowling can be very effective. He also provides aggresive batting in the middle order and if he could be persuaded to play on Saturdays as well he would be even more popular.
Players
Pip Allam
Captain of the sunday side since 2005 but handed over the reigns to Rich at the end of 2010. He will be a hard act to follow, his will to win and fiery leadership are well known accross the county. Started playing way back in 1987 as a young lad. A disciplined top order batsman who can occupy the crease for days but rarely misses out on a four ball. Pip leads by example in the field with probably the safest pair of hands in the side.
Steven Bennington
Peter Brinkley
Played his first game for the club in 1981, Pedro is the most experienced current player at Great Bromley. Has scored thousands of runs and taken hundreds of wickets. Can bat anywhere in the order and rarely bowls two consectutive balls the same. Gives good advice in the field and as a former captain knows the game very well.
Cliff Day
Jack Edwards
Wicket keeper batsman who came through the colts. Is starting to play more for the senior sides and has a lot of potential. Has proved he is not intimidated by senior cricket and has a fantastic straight drive but perhaps shouldnt play it to every ball!
Liam Fisher
All rounder who has come through the colts set up. An attacking batsman who can bat anywhere in the top/middle order. Bowls at a good pace and swings the ball. In 2009 he devised a 6 hitting competion for the season which, of course, he won.
Jake Foley
Coverted first winner of the mallard trophy in 2009, superstar Jake is also a runner up in the sports personality of the year...for under 18s...in cricket...at felstead...for left handers. Jake now plays at a higher level on a Saturday but his fast leg breaks and stylish batting can still be seen at Bromley on Sundays for the 1st team. He is the current holder of our young player of the year award.
Matt Foley
Joined the club in 1987 and has made over 400 appearences. Started out as a seam up bowler and was successful with over 250 wickets. In recent times has turned to his attentions to perfecting the art of spin bowling. Can score useful runs in the lower middle order and always keeps the bar well stocked. Which makes him a very popular club member.
Paul Gaffney
Quick opening bowler and lower order batsman who improves year on year. Has become a strike bowler and rarely fails to pick up at least one wicket. His uncomplicated approach to batting always leaves him asking the question "whats the point in playing defensive!?"
David Hardy
Captained the Two Counties side in the first four years of being formed. Did a terriffic job in building a side that now seems to be blossoming. Makes useful contributions with the bat and is stunning to watch in the field.
Harry Hitchcock
Huge opening bowler who is recovering from a knee operation during the off season. Gets alot of bounce and can be a real handful for batsmen. Can hit the ball a long way but tends to play by numbers.
Nick Holyman
Joined the club in 2009 and performed well in his first season. Bowls accurate medium pacers and is a solid lower order batsman. Has become a valued member of the team in a short space of time and feels like he has played for Bromley for years. Writes excellent match reports for the Two Counties games.
Billy Huggins
Another former colt who opens the bowling for the saturday side. After a couple of seasons without playing came back and had a terriffic season in 2009 ending in him being the leading wicket taker. Bats in the lower order and has made useful contributions.
Richard Lawson
The new Club captain for 2011 after spending the last couple of years as Pips apprentice. He will be looking to build on a sound 2010 season where his form with the bat coinsided with marrying his true love.will it last in 2011, the form that is! Has become the specialist slip fielder by default rather than any ability possessed.
Darren Marks
Lloyd Patternot
Louis Perrin
Came through the colts and won the Two Counties Division 6 title in his first season as captain of the saturday side in 2009. Has become a very solid middle/top order batsman and is exceptional in the field. His medium pacers take many wickets and still baffles opposition batsmen with his terribly disguised slower ball.
Matt Pirie
Tall, elegant, powerful middle order batsman with bags of ability. Many bowlers afternoons have been spoiled by Matt as he can accumulate runs at an incredible rate with an astonishing array of shots. Bowls off a couple of paces and can be very tricky to get away. Started playing for the club in 1988.
Simon Prestney
Hard hitting middle order batsman who can destroy an attack in a matter of overs. Can be hit or miss but when it pays off no bowler is safe. Can keep wicket but is most favourably known for the terriffic tea he produces.
Joe Sheekey
Joined the club in 2010 from near neighbours Elmstead. He enjoyed an exellent first season scoring 140 on debut. A joy to watch if he manages to survive the first over. He chipped in with useful wickets too with a combination of beamers and bouncers. Joe also provides our support base, his faithful fiancee Justine wouldnt miss a match for the world, not until they are married anyway!
Matt Wareing
Left arm seam up bowler who has started to open the bowling for the senior side. Had a fantastic 2010 taking over 50 wickets for the club. Seems to grow week on week and currently stands at over 7 feet tall. Destined for greater things but we will enjoy him while we can, big things expected in 2011. Also nicest teenager you could ever meet.
Rob Wareing
Accurate right arm medium pacer who doesn't always get the wickets he deserves. Bats in the lower order but is fully capable of scoring runs. Hates baseball.Currently punching way above his weight on the girl front!
