Braintree II v Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI on Sat 22 Aug 2009 at 1pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 181 runs

Match report The bowlers of Division 6 will be glad to see the back of Craig Perrin and Liam Fisher if,as looks likely, Gt Bromley gain promotion.
On Saturday we travelled with half of southern England Towards Braintree, Most were going To `V` we were going to a festival of Batting!!
I dont need to tell you who won the toss lets just say we batted first on a belter of a strip and after a quiet first over the next was quite bizarre. Poor Matt Street had a `mare`, 17 runs came from it, 12 in wides. One ball was so wide square leg nearly fielded it! 2 overs later it didnt get much better for him, the score was 33 with only 9 coming from the bat. Plenty did come from the bat soon after, at 8 an over for 34 overs, Liam and Craig smashed 273 thus breaking their own Div 6, 1st wicket partnership record set earlier this year at Elmstead. In 9 opening stands together these two have put on 1,046 at an avarage of 116.22 (good stat eh?)Craig fell just 5 short of his Century, Unfortunately hitting a full toss straight to mid off. Jake and Rich fell cheaply But Louis joined Fish for a final onslaught to push the score to 383, the skipper ruthlessly creaming Braintree`s weary attack for 53 from 24 balls but all plaudits must go to Liam who carried his bat for a career best 170 not out. He may have crap hair but the boy can sure bat!
In reply Braintree would need to get off to a flyer if they had any chance of chasing such a total and they did play positively but Louis took a great catch to dismiss the dangerous Ainsley and once fellow opener Macleod also departed, Captain `happy` Eveling and `sledger` Fullgrabbe took pleasure in batting the next 20 overs with the sole intention of depriving us of anything more than 16 points. A change of pace was needed with Jake and Andy introduced and it didnt take long before Fullgrabbe played all round a ` Micky Mouse` ball from Jake to leave Bromley in Disneyland. The barn door was open and the horses were bolting, Eveling hung around to complete a half Century but Jake bowled well to take 3 wickets and Andy got 2 but the icing on the cake was Jordan getting a very rare bowl and capping a fine day by taking a wicket with his third ball. Billy confirmed his position as leading wicket taker by knocking over the last 2 rabbits to complete victory and claim 20 yes 20 points
