Match report An excellent all-round performance saw Bromley return to winning ways at peaceful Nacton.
Louis won the toss again and chose to bat on a good looking strip. Opening bowlers Baffico and Brunt kept a tight line and the slow outfield also kept the runs down as Craig and liam moved to 34 after 9 overs, not the usual fireworks from Fish.It was somewhat a suprise when Brunt was removed from the attack and replaced by the slow right arm of Baker. it was though, to be a wise decision as Baker found a way through the usually solid defences of Craig who departed for a below par 29.This was the opening pairs 6th stand of over 50 this season and again provided a platform for a good final total. Jake, who has been out of touch of late joined Liam and took a while to get going but gradually started to find some form looking good off the front foot whilst driving down the ground. Boundries were hard to come by but we were still managing to keep above 4 runs an over with plenty of wickets in Hand. Jake fell for 23 finally losing his patience and missing with an industrial heave! Liam was just begining to open up when he missed a straight one and was bowled for an excellent 64.This was not a wicket that suited his game but he found a way hang around and has now scored over 600 runs this season. Louis came in with just 12 overs to go but in the ideal position of being able to hit out. and this he did to some effect. Jordan struggled to a 28 ball 12 but the skipper helped by some good running from Nick made a superb 56 losing his wicket to the last ball of the innings caught at long on. 211 looked a challenging total.
Nacton got off to a bright start taking 24 off the first 5 overs but the aerial route was sure to catch them out soon. Adams was well taken by Craig off a thin edge from Billy.The dangerous Glading then holed out and Nacton were 43-2. Brunt and Blowers rebuilt and were looking comfortable until Matt Wareing was introduced and immediately hit his straps.This 5 over spell was Matts best bowling of the season by far, first he got Blowers to offer a catch well taken by Andy then a lightening piece of work by Craig removed Brunt for 25.Captain Warner offered Nacton`s last realistic chance of victory but another cracking ball from Matt saw him edge behind and Craig took another good catch. Matt finished his spell with figures of 3 for 7 and only conceded runs from 2 balls of his 5 overs, keep it up Trig! Jake took a wicket with his first ball and then bowled 17 half volleys.lol.Andy also got a piece of the action unlike Louis who bowled 10 overs without joy thanks to some butter fingers from his fielders.Nick showed him how to do it by taking wickets with his 2nd and 3rd balls wrapping up the game and leaving him on a hat-trick for the next game (if his captain bowls him)
A much needed win after some off-colour performances of late, 5 games to go and still top.
