Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI v East Bergholt on Sat 11 Jul 2009 at 1pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 1 wkt

Match report East Bergholt were the visitors for this the latest game in Gt Bromleys march towards Division 5! Missing Skipper Louis, Liam stood in as Captain for the first time and having lost the toss marked his authority by opening the bowling and getting Rich to set the field!! At the other end Billy shared the new ball unaware of what a fantastic day he was about to have. Bergholts openers Norman and McGray made it to 26 before Billy had Norman well caught at Gully By Jake.A mix up between Rich and Rob(robs fault) gave McGray a life but he was`nt to take advantage as Rich made amends with a trademark over the shoulder catch to give Billy his second wicket. The Wareing boys then bowled in tandem and Rob took the spoils by claiming the wicket of Chenery for 6. Pete joined in the action having Basted caught behind, Jordan doing a great job standing in for Craig behind the timbers. The next three wickets fell in 3 balls as Bill claimed his first ever Hat-trick and Bergholt were struggling at 121-7. Not done yet, Billy then Bowled D Goodchild before Matt returned to pick up a deserved wicket leaving Billy to claim his seventh as Nick caught Munson in the deep. 158 allout, Billy`s figures of 13.1 overs 7 for 39 not surprisingly his best for the club.
159 to win, surely not a problem on our pitch? 26-3 with 3 with of our 4 specialist batsman out, Hunter claiming all 3. This soon became 46-5 and then 57-6 and 60-7. No chance from here. THERE IS WITH SUPERBILL!! Andy played an Andy innings to propel the score to 88 before falling to a ball 19 feet outside off stump that he chased and hit straight to deep point. Pete stopped umpiring just in time to pad up and join Billy in the `hopeless` task of scoring another 71 runs with just 2 wickets in hand. Not only that but the required rate had reached 5.5 an over. Pete put some urgency into the innings and some panic into Bergholt who seemed til then cruising to victory. Billy survived a close stumping attempt and made them pay with 2 big 6`s. The target was getting closer. Just when we were looking favourites Pete decided to spice things up by holing out to long off.141-9. No 11 Rob who`s highest score is 2 Joined Bill for the final push,45 overs arrived, the score at 154, Bromley indepted to having 3 overs claimed from Bergholt needed just 5 to win. The scores were level at 46 overs before Rob cruelly deprived Billy his 50 by creaming a full toss for the glorious winning runs. A fantastic game to win against good sports in Bergholt who took what must have been a painful defeat in good heart, Billy the undisputed man of the match with 49 not out to add to his 7 for and hat-trick. We march on.
