Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 18 runs

Match report TWO COUNTIES DIV 6 GT BROMLEY 288-5 V NACTON 270 A.O. BROMLEY WON BY 18 RUNS

After the dissapointment of defeat with a weakened side last week at Achilles, Bromley were back to full strength and looking to gain ground on another of the top sides. Louis kept up his record of winning all tosses and batted first on the Rectory road `road`. True to form it was to be another run fest although Bromley didnt get off to the start they would have liked losing Jake for a duck and Simon for 4, This brought Liam in to join Craig and they built another of their excellent partnerships. These two players different styles must be a nightmare to bowl at and none of the Nacton Bowlers were able to contain them. The `fish` was first go for 69, caught and bowled by a relieved Fincham, the pair had put on 131 in quick time and set up Bromleys big total.Louis kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely with little brov until Craig miss-timed a drive giving a return catch off Coomber`s first ball. Jordan arrived and struggled to time the ball at first but gradually found some form and after Louis completed his first half century of the season it was very pleasing to see Jordan batting smoothly again. The innings ended at 288-5 a good total but with the lightening outfield and small boundries it was by no means an easy ride to victory.
Harry and Nick opened the bowling and struggled with their line and length both mixing good deliveries with some wayward ones. Big Harry did manage to find a straight one to dismiss Butcher for a duck. Jordans day got better still when he affected a run out to dismiss Blowers. Glading was looking dangerous and scoring quickly but hit a skier off Matt Halsey and Matt Foley took a good catch. Fincham joined Brunt at the crease and these two took the game to Bromley, Fincham in Particular hitting some massive blows, Nacton were right in the game and perhaps even favourites going into the last 15 overs.Billy Huggins was introduced into the attack and struck with his very first ball removing Brunt for 36 but it was Fincham that Bromley really needed and they were to get their wish following a smart peice of work by Craig behind the stumps. Fincham may have been baffled by his own umpires decision to wide a ball 6 inches down leg side and left his crease momentarily, enough time for Craig to break the stumps.Fincham made 98 and surely would have won the game for Nacton had he survived til the end . Captain Warner valiantly continued the fight but Nacton fell 18 runs short and their last wicket fell to the last ball of the match to give Bromley maximum points
