Match report Chappel the vistors on a lovely sunny september day. Having won the toss Pip decided to bat on what looked like a decent wicket. It did not take long to realise that this was not an ordinary Bromley wicket, there was some assistance for the bowlers.

Our innings was constructed in the usual way. Wickets fell at regular intervals with batsmen playing well but getting out without heavily scoring. Craig, Pip and Louis all out in the teens. Matt P top scored and played well for his 44. A very useful last wicket stand of 28 between Nick (12*) and Hartry (10) saw us up to 158 all out but conceeding 5 overs.

In reply Chappel made a good start reaching 70-1 in the 16th over. Paul and Harry were the bowlers who seemed to have no luck as there were finger tip chances and plenty of edges to the boundary. Rob came into the attack and bowled an excellent 7 over spell taking 3-17 which just kept us in the game. 108-4 and Patmore was going well on 60. Louis came on after Paul and in his second over dismissed Patmore which put the game back in the balance. A few overs later and Louis had another. 125-6. Nick came on after Rob and continued to bowl tightly and in his 6th over produced a killer blow to Chappel picking up two wickets. 139-8, 20 runs to win but importantly only two wickets remaining. Another couple of tight overs past and Louis started his 10th over. It started and ended with a wicket leaving Chappel 147 all out and 11 runs short with safe hands Matt W taking his SECOND catch of the game.

A delighted Bromley team nearly threw away the last home game of the season with a poor batting display but pulled it round with the ball. Thanks to John Bolton for his hard work at the ground this year. Hopefully next season we will make proper use of the wickets he produces.
