Real Oddies (At Mile End) v Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Evening League on Tue 05 Jul 2011 at 6pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 46 runs

Match report A trip to mile end faced the Great Bromley evening league side this week, and with bright orange stumps to look at started the game by batting first. Olly and Louis got the game of to a steady start. Olly dealing mainly in boundaries off some poor bowling and Wright playing some golf shots that Tiger would have been proud of, but effective they were as he smashed his way to 28 before one big swing too many ended his innings. Meanwhile at the other end Louis was showing some grit and determination for trying to catch Liam Holyman in the batting award, not wanting to give his wicket away he was the stand in batsmen throughout most of the innings and then gave his wicket away with an uncharacteristic attacking shot!! Captain Wareing in the form of his life promoted himself to number 3 and hit some lovely shots before gifting the keeper a simple catch off the top edge. C. Perrin and Jack Edwards finished off the innings in style both playing some nice strokes and good running saw Bromley to a total of 154.

A swift turn around and the stumps looking brighter than ever in the dimming light, Halsey made them look a mess after bowling the perfect yorker to dismiss Ward for a duck. This obviously upset him when he came out to umpire later on in the innings. Adam wasn't on his best of bowling form but still managed to pick up a wicket with a comfortable catch for Olly. Then came Matt wake and away went the game. Bowling some of his "banana" balls as he says taking a well deserved 3 wickets. For his second wicket the upset Ward showed how upset he really was after an extravagant dive from Craig to take a catch at Gully, Ward said the batsmen had crossed even though the departing Hamblion hadn't left his crease! This didn't matter as Rob may have had the most expensive economy rate the game was still there for winning. With some "Perrin Pies" he somehow picked up 2 wickets as did the skipper Wareing. Himself only remembering picking up one wicket but the score book doesn't lie. With only one game left there will be some fierce competition between Holyman and the older Perrin for the batting award, as Liam is again fit after his unfortunate crash.
