Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Evening League v Abberton on Tue 21 Jun 2011 at 6pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 66 runs

Match report Abberton, a team that had beaten us once this season were the visotrs to the fortress that is Gt. Bromley. A team we knew could be dangerous having already beaten us in the earlier of game the season. This view soon changed when Olly smashed the opener all round, hitting his way to 29 in under 3 overs! I stress hitting as running didn't seem to be his strong point when he ran himself out going for what should have been an easy 2. His opening partner Louis had a slow and steady start getting his eye in, taking his time to get going but this was fine as his partners were getting around him. Liam being the unlucky one as we had no bails the ball trickled onto the stumps, probably wouldn;t have knocked the bails off but he had to go. Sam and Louis put on a good partnership with Sam playing in his usual attacking style and both running between the wickets well. Sam eventually fell for a well deserved 28 and Louis an excellent 68, of which will give him plently of confidence as he only used his sweep shot when it was appropriate!
The opening bowlers needed to start well with the dangerous White and Sawndon at the top of the order for the vistors. But Halsey and birthday boy Adam didn't disapoint. Bieber picking up 3 wickets of which he could have burst into song about, he was so happy. Adam also bowled well to pick up a solitary wicket but a good spell for the birthday boy. The game was going so well that Jack even got to bowl and was pleasantly surprising with some nice full bowling and even getting a wicket from a batsmen who was frightened of Jack's "express" pace! Sometimes though his bowling was to full and Zaman who was the only Abberton batsmen to get a decent score punished this, clubbing a 6 over square leg from a waist height full toss. Louis took the opportunity to treat this as an invitation, first to be a sniffer dog looking for the ball in the field, then decided he didn't like that and became a scuba diver showing a lovely breast stroke, just as technically brilliant as his batting was that evening. Will also came on and picked up two wickets, with Jack taking another excellent catch, still walking back to his field position when the ball was bowled! Holyman wrapped up a convincing win with 2 wickets in 3 balls, which should have been 2 in 2 if it wasn't for a complete shocker of an LBW decision from the official umpire! But a convincing 66 run victory win, the form is picking up and doesn't look like slowing down for the evening league team.
