Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 20 runs

Match report GT. Bromley vs Ardleigh. A big game due to being local rivals and even bigger with the added imprtus of Adam Cuthbert having alliances with both teams. Winning another toss Bromley batted first but got off to a shaky start with Louis who had just started to find form reverted back and was bowled cheaply. Sam quickly followed by a sharp stumping from Lamont. The rock at the top Olly was joined by the hard hitting Holyman and they formed a solid partnership of 59 which was needed. This left the score at 75 for 3 when Olly was bowled by Cawthorne for a well deserved 26. The fish and Rich both scored quickly with some other small contributions from the middle/lower order. A score of 117 for 9 on a tricky pitch was a decent total.

Halsey again opened the bowling with a solid first over, but this time was joined by Wareing to opening bowler as Cuthbert the normal opener had an injury. Wareing followed up the tight over by one of his own and getting an early breakthrough with a catch taken off his bowling by rich, who was thrilled that he finally caught one off the left- armers bowling. Halsey's second over included some excellent bowling but a few loose deliveries which were punished. Bring on the Liam's. Holyman had a strange over of wickets and runs as within the space of four balls was hit for ten runs but picked up two wickets!! The other liam also picked up wickets but avoided a jug by stopping at four wickets! Will again bowled really well, showing that the more you play the more confident you become and has come on a lot in the last few weeks impressing a lot of people with his attitude and commitment. He deserved a wicket and should have got one if it wasn't for a shocking peice of mis-judgement by the captain who dropped one of the easiest catches all season, but to add salt to the wound pushed it for a 4! A solid performance and a well desreved victory, I am sure Adam will enjoy the next time he sees them to dish out some of his famous cutting remarks!
