Match report The evening league team again playing on a lovely Tuesday evening. For the 1st time though captain Matt lost the toss and was forced to field first. The late arrival of the opposition captain and no other team member willing to take the toss saw the game finally get under way at 6.20pm. A great start for the openers Halsey and Cuthbert bowling some tight lines in there first overs with Halsey picking up a wicket. There second overs were a touch looser but still a respectable start. Opting for spin at both ends Holyman and Foley came on, both in good wicket taking form this season and kept it reasonably tight picking up 3 wickets between them. Will was asked to bowl out the final over and kept the runs down by picking up two wickets and we were set a target of 140.
Due to the late start, we rushed the turnaround and with more poor etiquette from the University one of their fielders could not even wear full whites! This proved to be crucial as Calum wanted a quick single hitting the ball straight to this fielder thinking he was the umpire and Jack was run out with out facing. The brothers were once again re-united and another decent partnership was formed between them. When the wicket of the younger Holyman fell, a collapse in true Bromley style followed first with Wareing and followed by Halsey, Cuthbert and both the Days trying to get the run rate up a bit. Sam though was unlucky to be run out after the uni's wicketkeeper did an amazing pick up from a poor throw, showing he was not that injured and he only asked for a runner earlier in the game because he couldn't! More poor ettiquette. The game though was a defeat for Bromley and was a game we all feel we should have won. Roll on the next game, back to winning ways.
