Bury St Edmunds III v Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI on Sat 04 Jun 2011 at 1pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 156 runs

Match report The long trip up the A14 to 2nd placed Bury St Edmunds III's with Bromley looking to make it three wins in a row.
With the last 2 victories coming after we had inserted the opposition, Louis had a dilemma, the pitch looked like the road we had just driven along and the warm weather said 'bat first' but with the excellence of our bowling recently the head said 'have a bowl'. Good toss to lose then, so thats what Lou did and we were put into bat.
37 overs and 263 record compiling runs later, Craig was walking back to the shed, i would say pavilion, but no it was a shed. Rich was still there and he would stay there right till the end. Craig made 139, by far the dominant partner but both batted superbly, no doubt spurred on by being called sloggers by Burys Burberry wearing Cordel. Craig now holds the record for 1st wicket partnerships in both Division 5 and 6. Rich ended on 125 and now averages over 100 on Saturdays this year. The bowling had been admitedly weak but the fielding was even worse, possibly the laziest i have seen. Craig brought up his ton by pulling a ball viciously and nearly decapitating Nick who was Umpiring at square leg, whilst Craig was raising his bat to the applause, Nick was gingerly picking himself up off the ground lucky to be alive! Matt Wareing hit four 4s in a quickfire 25 and better still Louis scored some runs at last, 22 in fact in just 10 balls. Louis' outlook on life is so much brighter when he is scoring runs, his broad grin telling its own story, i bet Aimee had a good night!!
So 349 for 2, Louis did some mental arithmetic at tea and declared that Bury would need 10 an over to win. Now lets see, 45 x 10 = 450, Bang on Einstein!!

Mr Cordell's day was soon to be complete. 5 bland overs for 33 was followed by a second ball duck, Matt wareing uprooting his leg stump. When Nicol and Gribsy both fell in the same over, again Matts work, Bury were 36-3 and the writing was on the wall. Captain Dobson joined Smith and these two added 40 for the 4th wicket, Dobson already showing signs of the clean hitting that was to follow. Hayes was the quiet partner in a stand of 80ish (i dont know the exact amount because not one player in the home team is able fill in a scorebook)and Bury were at least putting up a fight. Matt returned for a second spell and was way too good for the tail. Dobson was by now playing a shot a ball and hitting it hard and true. Remarkably it was Matt Wake's gentle seamers that finally accounted for him but not before he had made a valiant 98. Matt Wareing took the final wicket to register his five fa of the season and cement his place as the premium bowler in this division. The fielding was once again sharp and Bromley look to be on a roll.
