Match report Abberton have proved a good side this season and the game we had against them at the brow was a tight one so it was expected to be the same here. Louis won the flip of the coin game and opted to bat. Craig took a guard just to the left of leg stump and when he left a straight one from Scott it was no surprise to see the stumps scattered. 4 for 1 and our tailisman out, not the best start. Louis started slowly and got slower, he had a record to beat! His hamstring went again and Craig had to run for him ( at least he got some time in the middle). Rich was also in a cautious mood and it took 17 overs to bring the 50 up, very un- Bromley like. Woodrow put everyone out of their misery by having Louis caught for 19 in 49 balls, ridiculously quick compared to his 70 ball 15 in the away game. Heaven knows what Abberton think of him? Rob, promoted to no4 needed a good innings and so did we as today we had a long tail, Andy was at no7.lol. Rob obliged and along with the watchful Rich took the score along to 85 before Rich was bowled by Ward 2 short of his 50. Matt joined big bro, well little bro in reality and these two kept the scoreboard ticking slowly over. Abberton were bowling well in helpful conditions, it wasnt easy. When both Wareing's fell in quick succession the score was 126-5 with 13 overs to go. 190 would be a decent score. We got 159! Olly and Pete added some useful runs but we would have to bowl and field well to win this one.

The Two Matts opened again and as always bowled good lines but openers Ward and Zamen looked comfortable enough before Matt Bieber made the crucial breakthrough having Ward caught by the first of 3 catches into the safe hands of louis. Tuck hit his 3rd ball for 6 but was out on his 5th, swishing and missing to give the prettier Matt his 2nd wicket. Pete and Rob came into the attack and kept the pressure on, Abberton were being watchful too. After adding 27 for the 3rd wicket again 2 wickets fell in quick order and then a third to leave the visitors stuttering on 72-5. Game on. 2 overs later and it was 6 down, Rob and Pete deservedly bagging 2 wickets each. Fiery Scott joined old mucker Brooker and the 2 experienced players looked to settle things down, Booker looking to take a leaf out of Louis's book! Matt Wareing returned, as yet wicketless but not for long as Scott holed out for 10 and Abberton were still 72 short. The tail offered little resistance as Matt Wareing hoovered up to take his now customery 3 wickets and Bromley did the double over a side who had ambitions of Div 4 cricket, maybe we'l beat them to it?
