Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI v Mildenhall lll on Sat 05 Jun 2010 at 1 pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Lost by 3 runs

Match report A sultry saturday and Bromley were looking to get back to winning ways after some disapointing results of late. The toss was an important factor and unfortunately this one went Mildenhalls way and predictably they batted first. Matt Wareing and Pete Hibbins opened the bowling and for the first few overs at least they were straight and testing but Matt started to lose his lines and both openers began to open up.31 after 10 overs soon became 66 after 15 and Bromley were desperately looking for a breakthrough. When it did come it was Louis who took it but not before Mildenhall had moved on to 90 and Clarke was looking good. Jake had been introduced but his usual tightness was not in attendance today, at least not in his first 5 overs, he would pull it back a little later on. Matt Halsey took the second wicket, 124-2, Clarke was still there. Louis tried Joe but he couldnt stem the flow either but Jake did take the third wicket and gather some hope but Clarke was still there.Chevvy Chipchase soon dampened that though and pushed on, Clarke finally fell for an excellent 90, Jake rewarded for finding his rythmn. Matt Wareing returned for his second spell but today was not his day and worryingly he has now gone 27 overs without a wicket but no-ones counting!! 246-4 was the final total and although Bromley hadnt bowled anywhere near their best this was only a par score and definately getable.

The slog twins Liam and Joe opened the batting Joe hitting his first ball for 6 his second for 4 and his forth straight up in the air, maybe a rethink is needed. Liam was slightly more restrained but after looking good for his 17 he played an agricultural heave and was bowled. Jake and Rich steadied the ship until Rich missed a straight one and departed for 18. Matt W, who is now a batsman looked solid and his partnership with Jake showed Bromleys future is in good hands. When Jake was out the score was 123 -3 and at the half way point the match was evenly poised. Louis decided to give the visitors the edge by quacking his way off Jack and Olly both got starts but at 187-7 we had a lot to do. Matt Wake playing his first for over a year played remarkably well and put others to shame, this was no difficult wicket or demon attack. Pete Hibbens joined Matt at 204-8 an the experienced pair looked llike seeing Bromley home but Pete edged behind with 6 needed, twitchy bum time. The 3rd Matt of the day (Halsey) just had to support Mr Wake but with only 4 needed he spooned one to cover and Mildenhall had triumphed. A sickening loss for Bromley who will need to pick their haeds for the Abberton game next Saturday
