Kelvedon and Feering ll v Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI on Mon 31 May 2010 at 1 pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets

Match report Apparently Under 16s Matchplay cricket takes president over senior cricket? Therefore we were relegated to the ploughed field next door to Kelvedons glorious main pitch. Never mind good players adapt, Kelvedons bowlers certainly did, Bromleys batsman didnt fair so well.
Minus the rock that is Craigs huge head we looked to an even bigger one in Jake! as well as the modest Rich to set us on our way, Openeing young bowlers Coe and Wilson did a great job for the hosts but Rich and Jake Rode their luck (to be fair it was mainly Richs luck) to a score of 33 before Rich feathered one behind. Jake was to duplicate this shortly after just when he started to look `in`. This brought Nick to the crease `there must be some mistake` i hear you cry but no, Louis must have had a preminition because the old timer justified his lofty postion by batting on while wickets tumbled around him, most it has to be said to poor shots rather than outstanding bowling. Joshua King took 4 wickets for kelvedon when to be fair the wicket wasnt turning and his bowling was slower than Olly running to the boundary! 138 all out was a paltry total and Nicks 90 minute innings of 28 showed what could be done with a little application and little ability.haha.

The pitch did offer something for the bowlers and a couple of early wickets could leave an intersting finish. The worst batsman i have ever seen opened the innings along with evergreen M Warner yet it still took 15 overs to shift him for 4 runs. It wasnt going to be our day. The steady Smith anchored the team over the winning line along with some promising youngsters for a comfortable 5 wicket win. Harry and Louis picked up 2 wickets each and Jake bowled a good 10 over spell picking up a wicket but Bromley never looked like winning this game and 3 defeats on the trot tells its own story. No need to panic, the talent is there but you have to be prepared to work hard as well to beat organised sides like Kelvedon.
