Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Saturday XI v Harwich and Dovercourt on Sat 01 May 2010 at 1 pm
Great Bromley and District Cricket Club Won by 223 runs

Match report 2 wins from 2 became 3 from 3 as Bromley overwhelmed Harwich at Rectory road on Saturday. With showery weather forecast it was never certain this game would see its conclusion but fortunately the rain stayed away instead it was raining runs! Its never a wise decision to put Bromley into bat on our own strip but this is what captain Rudkin did and he was soon to regret it. Craig was reunited with 2009`s opening partner Liam and they showed how in love they are by batting for 26 overs together and touching gloves at every opportunity. After a quiet first 5 overs the 6th was very eventful with 10 balls being bowled and 17 runs coming from it. Things didnt get much better for Harwich from that point but Semple did hold up an end admirably and without him heaven knows how many runs we would have amassed.Last season Craig and Liam averaged over 100 per opening stand and they werent to dissapoint this time, Liam falling for 87 when the score had reached 175, it might be a while before they are reunited at the crease because both have commitments this year but im sure they`l text each other and reminisce about how great they are!! Louis joined his brother and after taking a while to get used to the slowish pitch he began to look fluent. Craig fell just short of his 3rd consecutive ton but it was another innings of concentration and skill. A miny slump was to follow with Jordan and Joe (golden) Sheekey both getting blobs. The run rate really fell for a while and at 240 with 5 overs left it looked like we had really missed a trick but Louis and in particular Jake, who took 22 off the last over, pushed the score beyond 300 once again. It was to be at least 200 too many. If the batting was good ,the bowling was better. Matt and Billy had knocked over 5 early wickets last week but went 4 better here, taking 9 wickets between them. Matt claimed figures of 4 for 16 off 7 accurate overs, Billy took 5 for 37 off 9. They were helped by some peculiar shot selections by the Harwich batsman One batsman after another teeing off the minute he arrived at the crease, Sean Fox decided to bat facing MID- WICKET! WTF! The bowlers were backed up by some excellent fielding and a great bit of captaincy when Louis moved Billy from fine leg to square third man where he too a good catch almost immediately. Craigs keeping was spot on and Even Jake managed to take a sharp catch at slip. Another great win then and from someone who had no bearing on the game (apart from a fine stint of umpiring) it was amazing to watch!
